As per the study of 2016 by Search Metrics, they released that universal search result of Google showing some surprising changes. According to their study there have been a great impact on Google user interface search results as Google is now less than 10 organic blue links on its first page. On average it is showing 8.5 blue links and other links are supplements with app backs, snippets, images, knowledge panels, videos and many more.
Google has been now showing rich results on both mobile and desktop but how often and what would be the process to show such results will totally depend on the queries and category of the search. As per their study, around 1 out of 10 queries in mobile returns mobile app packs and you may get twice to see featured snippets or direct answers on desktop.
According to Lars Hartkopf, EMEA marketing director at Searchmetrics, those days are now gone while people were trying to appear in the classic ten blue organic links of Google’s first page. So, marketers need to plan unique strategies and need to understand the way to create and optimize content in such a way so that Google will consider this.
